During this amazing tour from east to west we visit different cities and explore Georgian culture and history. We visit two amazing buildings that are both on the World Heritage List of UESCO.

During this amazing tour from east to west we visit different cities and explore Georgian culture and history. We visit two amazing buildings that are both on the World Heritage List of UESCO.
We start our journey in Tbilisi and travel along Mtskheta to Kutaisi. Here we find vast tea fields, meters deep canyons and old spa buildings from the Soviet era. After Kutaisi we drive to Batumi, the coastal city of Georgia. In and around the city we find beautiful places with a special history or great views of the city. We end the trip in Kakheti, all the way back in eastern Georgia. We visit Davit Gareji and taste wines at a local family home. Day 1: Travel day

Upon arrival in Tbilisi, the guides of TRAVELDASH await you in the arrivals hall. From the airport, a transfer is arranged to the hotel in the heart of the historic city center. Depending on your arrival time, you have a free evening.

Day 2: Introduction to Tbilisi and Georgian cuisine

Today we start the day with a city walk through Tbilisi. With a local English speaking guide we walk through the old streets of Tbilisi. After the tour we will have lunch in the city center.
Then we will take a closer look at the Georgian cuisine. Together with experienced chefs we will make various Georgian traditional dishes. After preparation we can enjoy our own creations together with Georgian wine matching the dishes we have prepared. The rest of the evening is free to spend.

Day 3: Ethnographic museum and wine tasting

In the morning, after breakfast, we’ll drive to one of the largest open air museums in Georgia.

Day 4: Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Kutaisi

Today we leave Tbilisi behind and drive towards West Georgia. Here we visit the old center and the ancient Cathedral Svetitskhoveli.

Day 5: Gelati monastery, Prometheus caves and Tskhaltubo spa

Today we start the day with a visit to one of the most famous churches in Georgia; The Gelati monastery. A beautiful monastery on a hill with an amazing view over Kutaisi. The monastery was built by one of the most powerful kings of Georgia in the 9th century, this period is also called the golden age of Georgia. This monastery is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After visiting the monastery we drive to the next location; the caves of Prometheus. This cave complex is about 11 kilometers and has 22 different halls. Part of this is open to visitors. The cave complex takes its name from the Greek myth of Prometheus that was chained to the rocks in this area. From the cave complex we drive to the next highlight: Tskhaltubo.

From the cave complex we drive to the next highlight: Tskhaltubo. This village has been known since the Soviet Union for its various spas, thermal baths and healing water for, for example, rheumatism patients. The water comes out of the ground at about 35 degrees and cures all kinds of skin conditions. We are going to take a walk through the new and old part of the village. A number of sanatoriums have been restored to their former glory. But also some have fallen into disrepair and are empty. It is a beautiful sight and it almost seems like a time travel back to Soviet times. After a walk through the village we return to Kutaisi and have dinner together.

Day 6: Martvili canyons

After breakfast we leave Kutaisi behind again and drive towards Martvili. Here we will find Georgia’s most famous canyons. After exploring the canyons from above, we take a boat tour through the canyon.
Then we visit one of the oldest structures in Georgia: Nokalakevi. This fortress was already mentioned in scripts from the 6th century BC.
After a tour through the fortress and a visit to the hot springs, we drive to the last canyon of today; the Okatse Canyon. We walk through a steel construction hanging in the canyon. This gives us a great panoramic view of the entire area.
At the end of the day we drive back to Kutaisi.

Day 7: From Kutaisi to Batumi

Today we leave in the morning and head to the coastal city of Batumi. On the way we stop in the Guria region. This region is known for its tea production. Today we visit a tea plantation and the associated building. We get a guided tour and get an explanation about the production of tea and the history of tea in Guria. After the visit to the tea house we continue our way towards Batumi.
When we arrive we have a few hours off to check in and freshen up. Then we take a city walk through the city along some special buildings and various art objects of Batumi.
The evening is free to spend.

Day 8: Tamar Mepe

Today we go inland again and explore the province of Adjara. We make a round trip starting in Batumi. First we pass the Tamar Mephe bridge. This bridge dates back to the 12th century and is still in a pretty good condition. The bridge in the middle of the green subtropical nature of the National Park is a beautiful picture.
A bit further, we visit the waterfall which is also called after the queen. Next, we drive back towards Batumi and stop at a nice winery along the way. Here we have a short tour around the place and get a chance to taste some of the wines produced in this region.
Our thirst is quenched and we return to Batumi. The rest of the evening is free to spend.

Day 9: Free day in Batumi

This day is completely free to spend. It is possible to walk around the city center or go to the beach. There is also a cable car that goes up from the center to the mountains behind. From here you have a breathtaking view of the city and the sea. It is also possible to drive about 30 minutes south by taxi. Here along the coastline you have beautiful quiet pebble beaches with crystal clear water. Or visit the Botanical Garden, just outside Batumi.
In short, there are plenty of options! We help you on your way and everyone can draw up their own plan.

Day 10: Back to Tbilisi

Today after breakfast we leave from Batumi back to Tbilisi. The drive takes about 6 hours. Once back in Tbilisi we check in at the hotel. The rest of the day is free to spend.

Day 11: Davit Gareji and wine tasting in a family atmosphere

Today we leave in the morning to the monastery complex of Davit Gareji. We drive from Tbilisi to the Azerbaijani border. Here we visit the monastery of Davit Gareji with the guide. This monastery is almost completely carved into the rocks. The structure dates from the 6th century AD.
After an impressive tour through this extraordinary monastery complex in a semi-desert environment, we continue our way through the province of Kakheti. Our next stop is at Nika’s house. His family lives in a small village which is about an hour drive from Tbilisi. In the house we get an insight on how real Georgians are living. After tasting different wines made by the host himself, we join a Georgian feast. Our guide will tell us more about the table manners, traditions and customs typical of the Georgian Supra – a festive meal.

Day 12: Back to the Netherlands

The airport transfer will be ready at the desired time. depending on your departure time, breakfast will be ready for you. For those who would like to stay in Georgia for a few more days, you can book extra nights and we can organize other day trips to, for example, Kazbegi or Gori. If there is still time, breakfast will be ready for you. Day 1: Arrival in Georgia

After arriving at the airport in Kutaisi, the TRAVELDASH team will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall. From here, trasnfers are arranged to Kutaisi. Here we spend the night in a comfortable hotel in the city center. We will check-in in the middle of the night.

Day 2: Hiking in Samegrelo

Breakfast is ready at 09:00. After breakfast we first visit the caves of Prometheus. These caves are beautifully lit in different colors. The guide tells us more about the geological background and the history of the caves. We conclude the visit with an underground cruise through the caves. Then we leave the province of Imereti behind and continue our journey through Samegrelo. In the afternoon we make a short hike to an undiscovered canyon, near a beautiful waterfall. After an hour of hiking we reach the beautiful canyon in the middle of deserted nature. We can swim here and freshen up in the ice cold and crystal clear water. We hike back to the car and continue our way to the guesthouse located in the green mountains of Samegrelo. After breakfast we first visit the caves of Prometheus. These caves are beautifully lit in different colors. The guide tells us more about the geological background and the history of the caves. We conclude the visit with an underground cruise through the caves. Then we leave the province of Imereti behind and continue our journey through Samegrelo. Day 3: Hiking to waterfalls

This morning we leave early from the guest-house towards a village nearby. Here we start our hike towards the Toba waterfall. This waterfall of about 250 meters high and originates from several underground lakes. The hike is fairly rough but the view is definitely worth it. After about three hours we arrive at the Toba waterfall. From here we hike to the Oniore waterfall. The forests in this area are completely covered with a layer of moss. It’s almost like hiking in a jungle! From the Oniore waterfall we walk back to civilization. After a few kilometers, a Soviet army truck awaits us. The last few kilometers back we travel on the back of this truck. We arrive at the last waterfall for today. Here we will also enjoy a delicious traditional dinner. Around the waterfall, in the middle of nature, we eat and drink to regain strength. After dinner we drive back to the guest-house and close the day.

Day 4 & 5: Canyoning & highlights from the region

Today the group is split in two. The first group will explore the canyons up really close with local guides: Canyoning. We will climb through the canyons in special equipment. We will do this in the canyon that is connected to the Intsra waterfall of about 25 meters high. The second group will explore the canyons from a little further away. We visit the most famous canyon in Georgia: Martvili Canyon. We take a boat tour through the canyons. Then we visit one of the oldest structures in Georgia: Nokalakevi. This is a fortress already mentioned in writings from the 6th century BC. After a tour through the fort we visit the last canyon of today; the Okatse Canyon. We walk through a steel construction hanging in the canyon. This gives us an amazing panoramic view of the entire area. Then we return to the guest-house and dine together with the rest of group. Day 6: Batumi Hike

After breakfast we leave for Batumi. After a drive of about 3 hours we first stop at Mtirala National Park. Here we will do a beautiful hike through the subtropical forests of the Adjara region. This great forest is characterized by the warm maritime climate. It is a hike through the forests and mountains that border the black sea to the west and Turkey to the south. The forest and the ground is covered by different colors of moss. After a drive of about 3 hours we first stop at Mtirala National Park. Here we will do a beautiful hike through the subtropical forests of the Adjara region. This great forest is characterized by the warm maritime climate. It is a hike through the forests and mountains that border the black sea to the west and Turkey to the south. The forest and the ground is covered by different colors of moss. We walk along several deep blue lakes, small rivers and waterfalls. Halfway the route there is a zip-line that connects the trails. After the tour of about 7 hours, we travel on to Batumi. In the evening we arrive in Batumi. We eat together and spend the rest of the evening in the city. Batumi is known for its vibrant nightlife. Every night there are live performances by different bands, DJ’s perform in clubs and there are nice bars where you can taste local wine and different beers. For those who like a quieter pastime, you can take a nice walk along the illuminated boulevard with special coastal works, beautiful buildings and fountains.

Day 7: Batumi

Today we start the day with a city tour through Batumi. After the city walk, the rest of the day is free to spend. There is the possibility to further explore the city or to enjoy the beach under the warm sun. This day is free to enjoy everything Batumi has to offer. We’ll provide a list with information and different activities in and around Batumi so that you can organize your own fun day. Day 8: Batumi

Today we go back to Kutaisi or Tbilisi. Around noon we leave from Batumi back to Kutaisi and then Tbilisi. The bus will stop in the Kutaisi city center. Then we’ll continue to Tbilisi. We will take the departure times of your flights into account as much as possible when planning the transfers. Those who have not had enough of the Georgian wilderness or if you also want to discover the cities of Georgia, you can of course stay longer. We can give you tips and help with further travel plans. In Kutaisi or Tbilisi, 1 more night is booked, including a transfer to the airport. Around noon we leave from Batumi back to Kutaisi and then Tbilisi. The bus will stop in Kutaisi city center. Then we drive to Tbilisi. We will take the departure times of your flights into account as much as possible when planning the transport. Those who have not had enough of the Georgian wilderness or if you also want to discover the cities of Georgia, you can of course stay longer. We can give you tips and help with further travel plans. Day 1: Arrival in Georgia

After traveling from the Netherlands or Belgium, you will arrive at the end of the first day, or just after midnight in Tbilisi. The guide will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall. From here you will be taken to the hotel in the historical center of Tbilisi.

Day 2: Mtskheta & Tbilisi

Although you have only just arrived in the capital of Georgia, today we already take a short trip to the former capital of Georgia; Mtskheta.

First we visit the Jvari monastery, a church with a strategic location. From here you have a great view of Mtskheta and the two rivers that meet; Aragvi and Mtkvari.

In the center of Mtskheta we visit one of the largest churches in Georgia, the Shetistskhoveli Cathedral.

After the visit to Mtskheta we return to Tbilisi. From the hotel we start with an interesting tour through the old town of Tbilisi. Here we visit the hidden gems of the city and we get more explanation about the origin of Tbilisi and the history of this beautiful city. We see, among other things, different architectural styles that can be found in the old center. We end the walking tour in a cozy wine bar. Here we taste different wines and some locally made chacha’s (spirits in Georgia). All this while enjoying a delicious supper. Here in the middle of the historical center of Tbilisi and about a 5 minute walk from the hotel, we end the day.

Day 3: The Stalin museum, Uplistsikhe and Ateni church.

Gori is a small town about an hour from Tbilisi. The city is known, among other things, as the birthplace of Joseph Stalin. In the center of Gori we visit the museum dedicated to him. Here we mainly see the glory of his life …
After the museum visit we continue our trip to the historic city of Uplistsikhe, just outside Gori. This city is completely carved out of the mountains around 600 BC. Uplistsikhe is one of the oldest settlements in Georgia and completely accessible to visitors. During the tour we can walk through the ancient rooms and tunnels. From the outskirts of the city you have a great view over the Mtkvari river and valley. We continue our way to the Ateni church. This church was built in the early 7th century and has beautifully preserved Georgian Frescoes. After more explanation about the details of this church we leave for Tbilisi.

The rest of the evening is free to spend.

Day 4: Bodbe klooster and Sighnaghi

Today we leave Tbilisi behind and go to the wine province of Georgia: Kakheti. Our first stop is Sighnaghi, here we visit the Church of Bodbe. This church is very special for Georgians because St. Nino is buried here. She was one of the first evangelists in Georgia. From this church we go to the center of Sighnaghi. Here we have lunch first and then visit the National museum of Sighnaghi. In the afternoon we continue exploring Sighnaghi with a fun city tour and finish the evening with wine tasting in Sighnaghi and a delicious evening meal.

Day 5: The Kvareli tunnels, Nekresi en Chateau Mere

From Sighnaghi we travel to the Kvareli tunnels. These tunnels were dug in the Middle Ages to preserve wine and other products. This was possible because it is a constant temperature of about 12 degrees in the tunnels. We are also going to taste some locally produced wines. Then we follow a master class and make various Georgian dishes. After a delicious lunch, prepared by ourselves, we travel on to the Nekresi monastery. This monastery was built in the 6th century AD and consists of several churches and buildings. From this location you have a beautiful view over the Alazani valley, known for its different wines. We continue our journey towards Tbilisi. On the way we stop at a beautiful wine chateau. Here we get a tour and taste the delicious wines of the chateau again. We will also dine here. We drive back to Tbilisi and stay again in our old familiar hotel in the historic city center.

Day 6: Sightseeing along the Military highway

After breakfast, we leave Tbilisi behind us again and we travel via the Military highway towards the Russian border. Our first stop is at Ananuri Fortress. This beautiful fortress located on the turquoise blue reservoir of Zhinvali was built in the 13th century by the local graves of Aragvi. Aragvi is the river that used to flow here before the dam was built. The fort was captured and burned several times by rival families. From the fort we drive further towards Stepantsminda. Here we visit the Holy Trinity Church, also known as Gergeti Church. For the active travellers it is possible to reach the church, lying high on a mountain, on foot. It is about 1.5 hours of hiking. For convenience, it is also possible to go upstairs with local taxis.

Day 7: A feast in Tbilisi

A day off in Tbilisi, to be filled in according to your own wishes. We will provide you with a nice guide to discover the highlights of Tbilisi yourself. We are also available all day for any questions or help. In the evening we arranged a special dinner in the hotel, on the 3rd floor. From there we have a great view of the city. During dinner we will be accompanied by Georgian musicians. During dinner they will provide us with traditional Georgian singing and music from different instruments. This is what Georgia calls “supra”, a real feast with great food, drinks and music. With this we close not only the day but also a great trip.

Day 8: Return home

The transport to the airport will pick you up at the desired time.

Additional nights in Tbilisi are optional.
